The Philharmonic plan to build a new concert hall. Do you know its location?

Held mainly to commemorate the Chopin’s Year (it will be practically the 200th anniversary of Frederic Chopin’s birthday; he was born on March 1st!), the concert on 5th March will feature the remarkable pianst Ivo Pogorelić – winner of numerous prizes at a number of prestigious competitions.
Paradoxically, he won renown because of a prize he failed to receive. In 1980 he took part in the 10th International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition and was eliminated in the 3rd round. A juror at the competition, the Argentinian Martha Argerich proclaimed him a piano genius and resigned from the jury in protest. Irrespective of the jury’s assessment, Pogrelić’s career bloomed very fast; for a long time, however, he resisted visiting Poland.
Pogorelić will perform Chopin’s Piano Concerto in F Minor to the accompaniment of the Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Marek Pijarowski. Apart from the Concerto you will hear the Spanish-folklore-influenced Rapsodie Espagnole by Ravel, one of the most spectacular pieces of the composer. Next, the pianist will present the Fountains of Rome by Ottorino Respighi – a piece dedicated to the four fountains of the Eternal City: Andante mosso (the Fountain of Valle Giulia at dawn), Vivo ( the Triton Fountain in the morning), Allegro moderato (the Trevi Fountain at noon), Andante (the Villa Medici Fountain at sunset).
Come and join us!
